Suppose the current utility standards require a meter to be cold sequence in your application. And you are adding an additional service to an existing building with a hot sequence meter, that the utility would otherwise require to be cold sequence if built new today.

I'd like to ask if anyone has had experience in this situation, and which way it is best to propose the new service. I would anticipate that the best strategy is to build the new service to the current standard, and leave the existing service the way it is.

Request an on site meeting.

I ran into something similar and was able to work it out in person. I volunteered to relocate a meter that was in a tough spot for the meter reader to get to and they let me slide on the cold sequence metering.
