I have a air curtain for overhead door. It is supplied with 20amps 120volt. The micro/limit switch is very small trying to wire up, the micro switch only
controls the motor start relay in the air curtain, Am I allowed to use smaller wire for the micro switch? something like 14 or 16 gauge wire. I've tried the #12 wire really no room.

Is the switch in the power circuit or the control circuit? If in the power circuit, the smallest conductor will be based on the rating of the OCPD for the circuit.

I assume its the power circuit, Its the usual hand off auto, limit switch, nothing fancy. I guess I could change the OCPD to a 15

If it's controlling a relay or starter it would be part of the control circuit and governed by Art 430 Part VI.
Have you checked for a control circuit fuse in the controller ?
