Now that I have your attention. I dusted off the video tapes I purchaced from Mike Holt the other day on estimating. Three years ago when I purchaced them, I only viewed them once and really didn't pay much attention to them. I never thought that watching them again would be such an uplifting experience, in a time when things don't seem to be getting any better. I have been in business for three years and have paid the bills, but have not hired any body full time. After watching the tapes, I realized that I still don't have a clue about running a real contracting business. One thing I do know now, I need to get out of the field, if I want to expand this business any futher. This guy(Mike Holt) sure does have a way of communicating....it's a gift to us all. This is not a plug, or sales pitch, just a honest endorsment of a fine product.

Guys,

(1) have bought a handful of manuals and texts,

(2) read them all, (and again)

(3) really like the expansion on NEC text,

(4) really like the clear summaries presented in the art-drawings.

Mike Holt is a light in the wilderness of ignorance for me. I am working through several of his manuals, and his exam study guide, 2008 edition, is nearly flawless. The graphics are superb, and the writing style easy to follow. For those of us who can't attend classes due to lack of any in the area, it is good to have a source of information designed just for self study. He also presents the arcane subjects very well, and more than once I have learned that I have been doing something the wrong way from this material. This to me is the greatest benefit of continually reading, no matter how difficult it may seem, what you learn may save a life.

I purchased the Master Contractor kit 2 years ago. I've lent it to 2 other guys, and all 3 of us passed the NJ contractors exam with scores in the 90's. Mike is a true blessing to the in depth field we have all chosen. I hope someday I can posess the knowledge base he has. It's been a real gift to find these products and work with his company. A whole bunch of Great people doing great things over there! I'm hoping to get in touch with him this spring while we're vacationing in Florida. It would be great to just say thank you in person.

I have taken Mike's classes for years as well as purchased books.

I used his package for the Fla EC Test and took his week long course prior to the test. I was nearly insane after that week but passed test with ninety five the first time. He walks on water. HEE HEE.

I cannot say enough good things about Mike Holt and his entire support staff.

First Class!!

My question is, did you look at the material based on a post made about a few days to a week earlier, were a lot of the same subject matter was mentioned and very well explained? Esitmating and understanding business cost and of course MH was mentioned! Frankly that was my first thought, because it was well explained but did covered a lot of material!

Satcom and the Writer of the Turbo Bid software spoke in that thread!

I hesitated to share this but I have to. I had the good fortune to go out water skiing with Mike last year. We went in a narrow little canal down in Florida. While Mike is being towed behind the boat bare-footing, one of the pilot's responsibilities was to look out for these big ole alligators in the water. When he would see a gator, he would steer the boat to-wards it and force it to submerge and get out of Mike's way. I guess having gators in the water when you're bare-footing is great for training. Could there be a bigger motivation for not falling?

I have to tell you, Mike is an incredible bare-foot water skier. He has actually qualified for and will be competing in the bare-foot WORLD championship competition this year in Germany.

I have attached a picture of me and Mike next to his boat. I love that boat!
