Got my first crimper and was wondering if the bg crimp bay was capable of crimping a #2 alum wire in a insulated blackburn or do i need a die in the d3

The h style say 0 but i want to use the insulated ones and i looked on a chart and it said bg was ok for those. I just wanted to make sure

Thats a good crimper, I got it last summer. I have only used the crimps that take the D3, havent really looked into what other stuff I crimp with the BG. I noticed loadbreak elbow crimps take the BG which is cool as I do those now and then.

The crimpers seem very wrll made but the is absolutely no info in the package and virtually no info about them specifically on the web. I know they are the same as others but i just wanted some milwaukee specific info but it may be moot

If I’m not mistaken the “BG” die is only a 5/8” round crimp ( typical for bare ground wire H tap ), and die “O” is somewhat larger for smaller H taps and “D” die works with larger size H taps. D3 I think refers to a D size die slot that also accepts insertion of other dies to suit your needs.

Your talking about the red sleeve splice I assume.
the BG is the right one.

look at page N-19 and N-22 for additional dies. The H tap will take the O die and the D3 depending on size.
mopowr Steve is right .

for info, Google “Burndy MD6”

In case anyone is not aware of this: If you get the 840 die for that crimper (W style, goes in the D3 slot) you can get "common die series" lugs and crimp #6 thru 350 with that one die. For example blackburn SAKM series. Page 23 here:

We have about all the dies, but for the most part 4 would be about any man needs. The 840 being one.
bg(5/8),O, D,(D3) and 840.
K,C, and others are good for some copper crimps (irreversible splices) but not really needed

So im using a blackburn h style it requires a "0" die what is the milwaukee equivalent for the w style dies

So the "0" die is for crimping 2 #2s in an h style crimp and also for a single crimp of 350 kcmil?
I didn’t think a die for 350 was available for a hand crimp tool.
burndy makes a ratchet tool that will work, but my thinking was wire that big was crimped hydraulically
