I know this isn't a tool forum, but I thought I would ask you guys anyway. I currently use a Hole Hawg for most of my drilling. I would also like a smaller, lighter right angle drill for some smaller jobs and am looking at the Milwaukee 3002 or 3107. Both are almost identical 7 amp drills. 3002 has two speeds 0-400/0-900 and the 3107 has 0-335/0-750. Which would you reccommend? Has anyone used the 30" extension? Thanks.

I swear by my 30" extension and 33? knuckle. I can drill a 9' ceiling without a ladder and I can do the studs down to the floor without stooping.

I'm still trying to wear out the setup I got 22 years ago. :) Occasionally I'll take off the extension and use the 90? knuckle. . .but not very often.

Oh, yeah, the higher speed will pay off for shoving the 5/8" or 3/4" augers through quicker.

I hate my right angle drill, yes there is high and low but to switch you must take the head of the drill apart and put it back together. That new drill the Super Hawg 1680 looks pretty mean. 13 amps, and a more compact head then the hole hawg

For me, the Super Hawg was too odd to get used to. My Hole Hawg bit the dust for a week, had to use the Super Hawg. Couldn't develop a taste for it. :)

Just bought the DeWalt DW124. It's their version of a Super Hawg I guess, although it's been around longer. I love the thing. It gets heavy after a while (5 lbs lighter than the Super Hawg), but the high speed rocks. Low speed has a clutch so if it binds up it won't throw you off your ladder like a hole hawg or right angle. Best tool investment I've made so far.

I'm with Al on this one. I've had my Milwaukee drill with the 30" extension for about 12 years now and I haven't burnt it up yet. It's like a Timex watch - "takes a lickin and keeps on ticken". However, unlike Al I've never taken off the extension - never had a reason to.

Tagman,

For blowin' a string of rope holes through framing to thread rope. . .I haven't seen a tool that stresses my body less than the 33? knuckle and 30" extension that Milwaukee makes. Most of the holes I shoot are 12" - 48" above the floor. The tool is easily shoved by my hips or thigh while standing back from the wall.

Now, if I was running a lot of 1-1/2" or 2" pipe through framing and I needed to be sure of the pitch or hole-to-hole alignment, getting up close and personal with a Hawg makes sense.
