min. distance of receptacle from diffuser

Hi

Here is the situation, currently receptacle is mounted at 18" height from finshed floor. Now mechanical is putting new wall mounted diffuser next to it. Is there any minimum distance , we need to keep between two devices? Please give me code reference too.

Diffuser as in air vent? If so, I don't believe there is any NEC requirement. This is more of a design issue. What would be unsafe about a receptacle being near an air vent?

No minimum distance need be met. the vent will not get hot enough to cause an issue. Now if it were a smoke alarm I would want to keep it across the room from it to keep it from getting full of dust and going off all the time.
