Re: Min. distance on plug

I don't think the NEC has any restrictions on any type electrical equipment near or in the vicinity of gas lines and gas equipment at dwellings.

Re: Min. distance on plug

NFPA 54, 2.7.2(c) says "Gas meters shall be located at least 3 feet (.9 meters) from sources of ignition."

Re: Min. distance on plug

NFPA 54,3.3.196 "Sources of Ignition. Devices or equipment that, because of their intended modes of use or operation, are capable of providing sufficient thermal energy to ignite flammable gas?air mixtures."

Pull a plug out of a receptacle while under load and you will get a create the thermal energy.
