Mini-Split system installation are going to drive me insane.....
In another thread ( http://forums.mikeholt.com/showthread.php?t=153360 ) it was mentioned sizing the conductirs from the outside unit on a mini-split system to the interior unit,
I have found numerous installs where the interconnecting cable has an ampacity less than the overcurrent protection to the unit.
I understand that the load is normally minimal (small blower), but what Code section justifies say a #14 or smaller cable when the only OCP is at the outside unit and it may be 20 or 30 amp.
(according to the wiring diagrams the power portion of the interconnect cable comes right of the input lugs on the outside unit)
