Has anyone come across a mini split unit that requires a 4 conductor power supply?

I’m talking circuit from load center to disconnect not from unit to indoor head.

Thanks

No but can you provide an example?

I’ve worked on lots of mini splits from multiple vendors and never seen that required. Always have seen 2 hots and ground. Never a neutral. Also never seen a 3 phase unit.

Appears to be misinformation on their cut sheet.

It was showing a neutral being required but it was supposed to be in the column only for 120V supply but was also in the 240V column.

Mini splits were, AFAIK, European in origin. Their 230V is hot and neutral (well, center of the wye transformer). This confusion is understandable.

It may be what could be called a “universal terminal strip”, instead of having three possible terminals, four are used, so the instructions would be simplified by terminal number, and the unused terminal would not be connected at the factory when it was built, depending on voltage it was shipped as. Just something to speed up production most likely. Only one terminal label would be required.
