Mini split

My mini splits came with a factory SJO cord. The instructions says to tape and route the cord with the refrigerant lines. Does NEC 400.8(2) voids this? I have to pass the cord inside a Sheetrock wall and through wood studs of my home. I can always substitute 14/3 romex, but I was wondering. Thanks.

Historically that has not been accepted in this area as a violation of the Section you mentioned.
TC-ER, UF or jackleted MC are the methods normally used,

Some HVAC guys I know in NC use the SO cord all the time even on permitted and inspected jobs. .

They use to supply TC with the units before the NEC allowed it in a residence. I assumed they still provided it. Quite frankly I am surprised that they supply it at all.
