Minimum height to HV service?

Can anyone tell me the minimum height the utility is required to maintain between the ground and the 7200 VAC line? I purchased a lot with an electrical easment across it, and one of the lines in a three phase service appears to be about 12 feet from the ground at the midpoint of my lot. I think this is unsafe since it is easy for kids with fishing poles, etc to touch that line, but I notified the Co with no apparent effect.

Thanks

Contact the local office of the Public Utility Commission.
Charlie, the utility man, can supply more information than I can.

Re: Minimum height to HV service?

You have not given enough information; however, I will make some assumptions. If this is in an easement where it is only accessible to pedestrians and the lowest conductor is the MGN (multiple grounded neutral), then the required ground clearance is 9.5 feet to that conductor under the worst of conditions (heavy current or ice). Assuming the same parameters, the required ground clearance is 14.5 feet to a phase wire of the 12.47 kV Y / 7.2 kV line under the worst of conditions.

If you can not get the power company to respond to you, do as Bennie suggested and contact the state utility commission (them's the folks that give thu rate increase to thu pwr guys and kin git inta their pockets :) ).

Yes, the easement is only accessible by pedestrians. I'll have to study the layout to determine if the lowest conductor is the neutral.
Thanks for the info.
