I have a customer that wants a fountain in the housing complex pond.
the inspector (AHJ) says the ug service pole must be 20 feet with no deviation from the high water mark.
the pond has a spillway that allows a fixed (high water mark) and we can safely measure from this location.
while he is the ahj, the '08 code says (555.2(2))the electrical datum plane for non fluctuating water is 2ft above the highest water level.
(682.11) location of service equipment allows 5ft from the shoreline and 12in above the datum plane.
My quandry is space: my distance of 10 feet from shoreline is with in the datum plane and is where the customer wants it, 20 feet puts the pole to close to the edge of the road and subject to vehicular damage.
does anyone know anywhere else in the code or some snappy used car lingo I can use before I upset this inspector?
