when I first started in the trade I took a v.o.c. course and the first thing they did was have me watch the videos of people giving testimony about accidents that they had and the permanent damage they suffered. It really scared the hell out of me and taught me to have a great deal of respect for electricity. I sometimes do side jobs and my girlfriend helps me, and I try to teach her what to do, why to do it, and how it works. Ive been trying to tell her about the reasons for the saftey precautions we take and she says she understands, but I can see it on her face that its not really setting in. I want her to watch the videos that I saw so she can see what happens when you get careless, but I dont know where to find them. could somebody please give me some help?

maybe you should send her to school for a safety course or not let her do anything dangerous. let her see nasty pictures of people that were burned or killed with electricity. usually that helps people act a little more safer

if you want to keep her as your girlfriend then maybe you dont want her to be parinoid that you are in a dangerous occupation..get one of your buddies to help you instead..

I think it's interesting to hear "common folks/non-electricians" opinions on the dangers of our job. I tell them certainly, it could be catastrophic any day of the week. But then again, loosing your concentration or one careless move of the hand while driving down a two-lane highway can be just as deadly. And statistically - IT IS!....

At least with electrical, I can take the other guy driving past me out of the equation...
