Ok, service call for LV track. 110 volt track has four 50w electronic heads onit.
One head has no secondary. Ordering up a replacement
Checked the dimmer = incandescent dimmer.
Recommend matching load with dimmer. Reply ="but they worked fine for 15 yrs"!
Question: "Will driving electronic ballasts with incandescent dimmers lead to safety issues or simply nuisance?"
Another Question "What is more likely to fail with the mismatch setup? The xfmr as here, or the switch?
Experiences:
Magnetic xfmrs on incandescent dimmers usually smoke the dimmers.
I had a high end boutique with Faux walls, they were tabacco colored paint.
The dimmers had been smoking for some time but it looked like :rotflmao: part of the design.
Wisps of smoke curling up out of the switchbox.
Many experiences with mag xfmrs and cheap dimmers but not with electronic.
any safety/nuisance reason to spend the quadruple the money for the dimmer besides "supposed to"?
