I have a MLO Service panel with 3 - 200 amp breakers and 1- 300 amp breaker,I have a load of about 300 amps, the service panel has parallel 500 mcm, the inspector turn it down ,was told to replace wire with 600 mcm, is this right,There are onle 4 space's in service panel,the panel is feeding 2 lighting panel and a existing panel that has circuits removed except for exterior lighting building.

why did he want 600 kcmil, if the rule of 230.90(A)(which btw I agree with the majoritythat it does) didn't apply this still would be too small. Wouldn't you need 700 kcmils?
