Receptacle in a mobile home not working, found one of these boxless devices only allowed in a mobile homes. Opened back, Paper from NM between contacts. HO wanted several others and switches to be replaced too, seemed this is "standard" method of installation. Switch contacts very poor quality.

Wow...never seen on of those.

I did repair a dining room fixture once that someone really wanted fixed that had a lot of bulbs all with insulation displacement bulb sockets. Just rewired and soldered all the bulb sockets.

Yes those are standered in some older mobile homes, and rv.
The rv you’re stuck using them but most single wides around there you can use a 3 1/2 blue remodel box. “Usually”

I wouldn't call it older unless a 2021 model doublewide is older.

That's there "speed" production work they use in mfg these homes. I've replaced many with old work boxes and regular receptacles when working in them. Which I try my best to avoid working on! They don't use a normal route when wiring either

Those crimped-in devices s*ck...... they're a replace-on-sight for my company. Too many failures especially when customers are using space heaters or 8k+ window a/s units. They wonder why outlets burn up🤷‍♂️

The other problem devices are the back-stab only outlets seen from mid- to late-80's. This style was also used in modular housing as all original outlets in my development (81-92)

Other issue found, but at least it was on a 15A breaker, was that it was all wired with 14NM for the receptacles not 12, and then people add space heat or window units, and then wonder why it burns up.

Sub par standards for installation on a tinderbox construction. what can go wrong.

Receptacles wired with #14 protected at 15A aren’t going to burn up unless something else is wrong.

90% of stick built residential is wired with #14, not just MH’s.
