I am loking at re-wire of an existing mobile home that currrently is wired with, aluminum type romex, circa 70's. The system is failing and I was going to use romex,or mc cable I think the mc would satisfy the AHJ over the romex? Any ideas would be appriciated

Re: Mobile Homes Rewire.

Article 550 covers quite a bit , I know that here in Ca the trailers are considered (mobile) and the romex is not approved to be whisking down the road and all, emt would be allowed but the expense to the owner, a 83 year old lady, who is never going to move the home. But I will take your advice and talk with the inspector

Re: Mobile Homes Rewire.

I will addd that I am an Electrician of 20 years but am currently employed as a city Inspector but the trailer is out of my jurisdiction, and just thought someone might have some ideas. When I was younger and less informed I would just use romex and thought nothing of it however, being more informed and following the letter of the code and all, well ya know.
