I have an oven that is mobile for employees to use, the manufacturer labeling says to install a 50 disconnect within sight. This oven does not fall under article 430 were it is stated that a motor shall have a disconnect means within sight.
Ovens fall under article 210 to calculate kvwatt ratings per branch circuit. However, this particular oven is in a hospital, in the prostetic's room. There are no patients on this floor, and employees are the only ones permitted in this section. The question is, do I need to install a disconnect for an oven with a 50 amp cord cap that plugs into a receptacle with the disconnect is the breaker in the panel. Article 422 says that if the cap is plugged into the wall and a person has no access to it, then the disconnect shall be the main breaker.
