The MOCP on the WSHP (equipment) nameplate is 10 Amps @ 480 volts, single phase. There is an exception for Individual Motor Compressor under 440.22 (A): The rating of the branch-circuit short-circuit and ground-fault protective device shall not be required to be less than 15 amperes.

Equipment falls under 440.22 (B) Rating or Setting for Equipment since it has a pump and UV light. There is also the section 440.22 (C).

I want to use a 15 amp CB to feed the WSHP. The WSHP has a factory mounted UFDS. Would the Exception still apply?

You are not going to get any responses with a question with so many abbreviations.

What is a MOCP, WSHP, and a UFDS?

Sorry. First time posting.

The Maximum Overcurrent Protection on the Water Source Heat Pump nameplate is 10 Amps @ 480 volts, single phase. There is an exception for Individual Motor Compressor under 440.22 (A): The rating of the branch-circuit short-circuit and ground-fault protective device shall not be required to be less than 15 amperes.
Equipment falls under 440.22 (B) Rating or Setting for Equipment since it has a ground water pump and ultraviolet light. There is also the section 440.22 (C).

I want to use a 15 amp circuit breaker to feed the Water Source Heat Pump. The Water Source Heat Pump has a factory mounted Unfused Disconnect Switch. Would the Exception still apply?

I would say that 440.22(C) would dictate in stating the mfg. value trumps (A) & (B). That added to 110.3(B)
