We have had a few jobs where we imitated the factory made modular wiring system and it was a blast for commercial work. My question is, has anybody done modular wiring/prefab for residential? Instead of MC and metal boxes its romex and plastic boxes but the idea is still the same... basic idea is have outlets prewired with 20' chunks of romex among other things.

We have a 110 apartment units split across 10 buildings and seeing what has worked for others out there. Basically... what prefab methods have you guys used (successfully or otherwise) to cut down hours on the job.

I scoped a job for a former boss where the house was a prefab, high quality. Walls had been wired at factory, most loops already pulled & devices installed, if I remember correctly. Running home runs would be most of the hard work. Look in crawlspace & find various j boxes with long tails, each box marked, seemingly fairly well. I gave a price on it but we didn't get the job. As I saw it, it seemed like an OK way to wire the house. Like anything, do a few and figure out the best ways to route, etc. I'd think, do 2 or 3 and have it all down pat, maybe 1 or 2.
