Modifications to switchboard

A client has a 30 year old switchboard. It is the service entrance and the client is suggesting he would like to bolt on some conductors to the bussing and run out to a tap box on the outside of the building for hookup to a portable generator when necessary.

Aside of some really bad ideas and code discrepancies, does the automatically void any 30 year old listing, and if so, does it need to be re-listed by a field agency?

I would say that yes, it would void the listing

When speaking to a UL employee they will tell you that it does not 'void' the listing, but that it may not perform as was tested. They will always suggest a field evaluation to determine the status of the equipment when changed in the field.
