A term-a-nut pigtail with fork connector was installed in an outlet box. A gfci receptacle is to be installed in this box but if the fork connector is attached to the gfci ground lug, there is not enough clearance and the receptacle will not fit the box. If the fork connector is removed and stripped everything's fine. By modifying the pigtail, I assume UL listing is lost. True? Does the NEC care?

Attention fishermen: here's another can of worm to be opened! :)

Oddly enough, devices are "not evaluated" for use with those fork connectors. Devices are evaluated for solid wire, stranded wire, wires wrapped around the screw, wires pushed into the clamps, etc - but not for any of the crimp-on connectors we like so much.

This is not 'voiding the listing;' rather, it's a case of "UL doesn't know."

As much as I like the forks for taming wild stranded wire, I must confess that I have never seen ones that actually fit the space around the screw heads properly.
