NEC314.28 states the 6X rule applies to conduit bodies as well as pull boxes.
We need to install 4- 600KCMIL ( THHN ) and #3 ground in a 4" EMT raceway. Would like to use 4" Mogul LB to transition out of electrical room.
6X rule for 4" conduit =24". Conduit body measures 28" total.
Any other considerations ?
Conduit body is stamped 866 cu in.
 
What does the LB limits the size of the conductors to? It will say inside/outside that it is good for so many conductors. Not the cubic" capacity.

On a second note, you are not using it as a splice point are you?

314.28(A)(2) exception

That is only an exception to the distance to the opposite wall of the enclosure. It is not an exception to the distance between the conduit entries.

The rule in 314.28(A)(3) applies, but it is almost worthless as it requires the conduit body itself to be marked with the maximum number and size of conductors. I have never seen a conduit body that was marked for more than 3 conductors. There are manufacturers of conduit bodies that have tables showing other combinations of conductors that may be used, but the code rule only permits the combinations that are marked on the conduit body itself. There is also no provision in the NEC for any type of field calculation for this application
