I had a friend late last year get hired as master of record for a general contractor but then after he got all the projects complete they let him go. He said they compensated him well but it didnt last as long as he thought it would. He feels he got used by the company. I almost went to work with him when he asked but due to covid i was kinda hesitant to leave current job. I wont say he got used because they did pay him but the company did save money but it somehow doesnt seem fair. I told him its an experience and hopefully he learned from it. But the situation did make me think and I would like to hear if any one had similar stories and how to maybe work in a better deal for yourself.

What is a master of record?

It sounds like they are both right, jus confused with poor communication.

They paid him fair for a job but weren’t quite clear on the duration.

Your friend was compensated as discussed but had different expectations about duration.

They may have not let on about the short duration so to protect themselves from spiteful acts? Just spitballing here. Anything is just as likely the reason
