Right here.
Sorta messy, but not unusual for a facility of that age. Lots of people get to wrench on it over the years, and things go downhill from there. I sorta hate to see exposed romex (the newer yellow in the one pic) in a non-dwelling occupancy. That was probably a violation the day it was installed. Seems like you need to conceal it in a non-dwelling occupancy nowadays. In any event, I'm not really seeing anything to get too excited about at the moment.

I don't think it looks that bad for the type of customer.

1) No spec

2) No over site

3) Many small additions and changes over the years

4) All work expected to be done for the lowest price possible.

You can bet that at least one of the ECs in the past has tried to get OKed to add another panel but has been shot down when the price was given.

I have seen worse, much worse. Particularly in a fast food joint we did some work in a couple summers ago.

The place burnt to the ground last summer. We tried telling the owner that more work needed to be done....

I am not sure of the cause of the fire. After working in the food prep room I stopped going to that restaurant. It was nasty, next to an uncleaned bathroom and the people making the food were smoking in there and sitting their cigarettes on the counter next to the food.

The electrical system *was* bad enough to cause a fire, but so was the grease and so were the employees.

One of those,..."Been there, done that deals". I was called out to a commercial dishwasher that had the safety latch switch arced closed for the door. I told them to give me a day or two to find a replacement switch. On the second day, they called an "authorized" service tech who said no such switch was available, so he cut the switch in half, dremeled out the arc, epoxied the switch back together and told the business owners to keep the breaker off when not in use:rolleyes: . I had serviced the dishwasher twice before for different reasons. After they told me the "authorized" technician fixed the machine in the manner he did, I told them to never call me out for the machine again. Their response was,... "No hard feelings, we needed it done in a hurry.". "Why won't you service it again?"

How do I explain that non-sarcastically without slanderizing the "authorized" technician? It was a 25+ year old Hobart.
