I've mounted two motion sensitive cameras and all works fine. Then one of the air handlers in the building turns on and the cameras read motion on stationary objects because the vibration moves the camera just enough to make it "think" that at a distance those things are moving.

Has anyone else had this problem and found a mounting system or some other way of dealing with it. These are small cameras in the 4 inch bubbles?

does the camera itself sense motion, or the DVR its plugged into? On mine, the DVR senses motion and there are zones and thresholds you can set to get rid of problems like this.

I had that same problem at a plant and what I had to do was move the cameras to a farther location and change lenses to around a 30mm range. Are the domes you have installed with fixed lenses? If so and you don't want to move them due to cost you might want to play with the motion settings on your dvr. With my DVR sales I tell the customer once its installed your on your own unless its a good account.

Maybe change the time setting on the DVR to not record when those machines are on. Block out an hour or two. What brand DVR did you get? If its a good brand like the brand I use Everfocus (Sorry about the plug but I love them) call tech support and them might have a quick solution for you on the DVR

Yep, adjust the sensitivity in the motion detection area of programming and try to re-bracket the camera to get it steady - it has to be secured solid or you'll continually have this issue.

mhowe's point about changing the lens and relocating may also help - if you can find a solid surface within the field of view of the cameras lens...

thanks guys. I've tried the sensitivity settings on the cams. moving them is really not an option. I may have to redo the mounting of the cam; I had thought they were solid, but maybe it could be better.

Also, I'd meant to post this in the LV area. I clicked the wrong box. Sorry. Again, thanks for the help.

As I understand the motion sensing function is a math function in the software that drives the camera and it is done by monitoring the individual pixels and comparing them to the adjacent ones, etc.
