Motor branch circuit aluminium wire

Aluminium wire on a motor branch circuit can it be used yes or no?

I have never seen or done it but I had someone ask me and the only thing I can see against it 430.9(B)

Absolutely this is correct. however many terminals are marked AL9CU or AL7CU in this case aluminum would be permitted. See the "Wire and Connectors and Soldering Lugs" Section ZMVV in the UL whitebook. http://www.ul.com/whitebook
