I am installing a mechanical septic system. I need TWO 115v outlets for the motors to run the system. Each circuit requires a 20 amp breaker. My distance from the power source to the outlets is 100 ft. What size wire do I need to run? Can I run a 3-conductor 240v wire to a junction box and split the power there to 115v for each branch? Please advise!!!

Re: Motor circuit

since your profile does not state the area you are from and indicates you are a homeowner, i would suggest you contact a local licensed electrician. you also may have to see the local authority.

Re: Motor circuit

Hmm you need to check your local laws and ordinances on wiring for a septic system. Washington State has very specific rules for residential systems. If you don't have local laws on a septic system then it could be considered a Class I Div 1 system.
The wire size depends on the motor size. You may need a subpanel at the septic pumps per Art 225, grounding electrodes per Section 250.52, and motor and controller disconnects per 430.102, to get started.
Save yourself some time and money and get an electrican to help you.
