I Downloaded A Trial Version Of Cmh Constructor 8.0, And I Like What I See. I Am Looking For Something To Use In My Class To Show The Students How A Simple Control Diagram Works. This Program Will Turn Power On The Circuit And You Can See The Time Delays Timing And Contacts Closing. I Was Wanting To Know If Anyone Has Used This Software And What Is Your Opinion, Before I Buy It, Or If There Is A Better Program Out There.
Thank

I use Version 7.

A couple winters ago we updated a small industrial to PLC control. No one there knew for sure how everything was interlocked and in what sequence things started. We used the T&P method to locate every interlock, limit switch and push button. We used Constructor to create the ladder diagram and verify the existing operation. Once we had that we could then proceed with the PLC logic and HMI.

I used this program to simulate what happened to a large service when the "neutral tie" opened on an open transformer bank. You can follow the current flow of the transformers through a ground loop as you open the tie. (Neutral tie is probably not the correct term.) The real life result was very impressive from what I understand.

Some controls you just have to make yourself, like phase loss monitors.

I like it and would buy again. Audible alarms and whistles are not high on my list for simulation so I have not updated as yet. Maybe next time.
