I was inspectin an electric room and found two starters mounted on a top of panelboard at approx. 7'-6". Those staters have Auto/Manual/off selector. Is this installation a code violation since it's above 6'-7"? Thanks,

I would say it's a violation of 404.8(A) unless the motors happened to be at that height as well.

Chevy,

404.8 A is more about switches and circuit breakers IMO, I don.t see a

problem with the starters above the panel. I'll look to see if I can get a code

reference to back it up.

My Space 110.26

My Space 110.26

NFPA - 70 (2005)

110.26(A)(3) if met then you in, as long as other equipment (ex. raceway) don't extend 6" beyond the front of electrical equipment.

110.26 (E) bring it back in line to 6.5' and say MC should be 6.5'

110.26 (F)(1)(A) Dedicated Electrical Space. The space equal to the width and depth of equipment and extending from the floor to the height of 1.8m (6 ft) above the equipment or to the structural ceiling, ...

I have to disagree. OP states they have HOA control on them which in my opinion is a switch. 404.8(A) says All switches and circuit breakers used as switches shall be located so that they may be operated from a readily accessible place. They shall be installed such that the center of the grip of the operating handle of the switch or circuit breaker, when in its highest position, is not more than 6ft. 7in. above the floor or working platform.
