430.109 (F) Says a receptacle is a suitable disconnect for a cord and plug connected motor. Does the motor have to have a cord from the factory or may an electrician install a cord on the motor in the field. Is there any restrictions on what type of motors can be cord and plug connected.

I do not believe there is any NEC section that covers this, thus it would appear to be acceptable to install a cord on just about any motor.

I would point out that not every plug or receptacle has a stated HP rating as required by this paragraph, although, I can't imagine as a practical matter it would matter any.
