430.22 tells you to size the Branch-Circuit conductors at 125% of the ampacity of the motor as determined by 430.6(A)(1) - which tells you to use the NEC tables. This is for a continuous duty application. For other than continuous duty, refer to 430.22(E). So the "standard" method of sizing motor circuits already takes "continuous duty" into consideration.
Just for information's sake, 125% and 80% are reciprocals of one another. In other words, a load of 80% of circuit ampacity, and a circuit ampacity of 125% of the load, are the same thing.
