I have always used 500 volts to megger a 480 volt motor and 5000 volts for a 4160 volt motor(to ground) this is what I have seen other senior people also do this especially when doing a PI on the shop bench,I am hearing that a 4160 volt motor can be meggered accurately at 2500 volts to ground is there any reference that can be used to be sure what would be the correct voltage to megger at ? I have never meggered a 4160 v motor at 2500v.Then, should we megger a 480v motor at 250 volts?
