We have a 25 HP motor controlled by a 30 HP inverter is rated @ 45 amps The motor FLA is about 31 amps
The motor controls a vertical hoist

Question which Artical 430 table applies and what size CB would be used 480 volt 3 phase?
 
Which code version are you working from in your area? In the 2002 code it was 430.2 but it changed in the 2005 code back to being just in 430.52 along with everything else. They did add Exception #5 to 430.52 however, which allows for fuse sizing of the VFD at ratings other than the published values.
