where in the code book will i find when a portable pump motor needs a starter ? it is single phase 230volt 18amp on a cord.

article 430.32D2 gives requirements for motors one hp or less non automatically started and not permanetly installed.so if it does'nt meet any of the above, thermal o.l. protection is required.
