I have a existing 3 phase roof top exhaust fan motor starter/contactor disconnect. It is a disconnect with starting contactor in it. It also has a had off auto button and light to show it is on. The hand off auto button is feed from a transformer inside the starter/contactor disconnect. They added a damper to the existing installation. Can I use the power coming off the transformer to supply power to the damper motor? The disconnect is 3 phase.

Sounds like it would be a Listing issue. Equipment was probably not tested under a similar condition to what you are explaining to get its Listing.

As long as the transformer has the capacity, and the wiring and damper are protected against short circuits and overloads.

Often the capacity of the transformer is too small to power other devices. If there is enough space in the starter enclosure, you can often install a larger control power transformer.
