What classification is under a canopy where a gas dispenser if fed from overhead?

Class I Division I
Class I Division II
Class III Division I
Class III Division II

Table 514.3 B 1 for overhead dispenser states 20 ft. horizontally but I have found no answer for vertical.

Clarify for me, please.
Are we discussing a "standard" gasoline pump sitting on the ground with the electrical being fed from overhead and the gasoline supply run under the slab ?

Thank You for your response:

This was a test question with very limited information. I can only assume it is a standard gasoline pump with the electrical enclosed within the dispenser with the seal offs installed. The best I could gather it was asking about the area above the pump up to the canopy. I know about the 18 inch area above the pump and the 20 ft. horizontal. I have not been able to locate anything in the code other than this even if it were fed overhead electrically. We just completed a LNG fueling station in Cincinnati with the electrical feed underground, but the liquid nitrogen lines were routed from the above ground tank across and through the top of the canopy to supply the pumps with LNG. The canopy lights were normal LED lights with no amenities for a classified area. I know that this could be considered a different type installation being LNG but everything else is wired Hazardous Location.. Confusing..

With gasoline I don't see where anything above the dispenser would normally be a classified area.
With a lighter than air fuel (CNG,LNG) you would need to take the canopy construction into consideration as areas where entrapment of vapors is possible are classified.

From the wording of the question, and the list of answers, I would assume an overhead dispensing device and choose Class 1 Div 2.

Agreed. Unclassified was not an option. Just have to chalk that one up as a what the heck were you thinking when you wrote that question.

I thank you sir for your time..[/QUOTET

The canopy was pierced by the LNG lines, and the question did not state the type of fuel used in the pump. The use of the standard LED enclosed
fixtures is typical on these type of installations.

From the list of answers I agree that is the logical choice.

Thanks again....
