Motor winding configuration

I have an old three phase, 230/460 volt, 5 hp motor and I am trying to determine if it has delta or wye windings. How does one determine this?

All of the nameplate data is legible, and the low/high voltage terminal diagram seems to be similar to newer motors with wye windings.

Any suggestions?

Re: Motor winding configuration

If this is a standard 9-lead motor, when testing for continuity, you will find three "groups of three" if the motor is delta-wound.(Example - 1, 4, and 9)

If it is wye-wound, there will be one "group of three" (7, 8, and 9) and three "pairs".
