Motors cord/plug disconnecting means

Would it be a code violation to have a motor (fixed/permenantly) with a cord/plug if its not necessarily 'portable'? Ive read 430.81(B) NEC 2005 and there was a suggestion of by another electrician to have a particular motor installed with a 'cord/plug' twistlock to make it easier to move. I do not belive this is allowed but wasnt sure. I know for little motors u can do that (ie.. bath fans) and they are not necessarily 'portable' but then again thats a matter of perspective.

Thanks.

We have cord and plugged motors before to make removal easier when the motor goes down. Don't know how the code looks at it though....
