I understand that "in general" TEFC motors can be used for Class 1 Div. 2 areas, and that the NEC does not require any special designation in the motor nameplate other than the T rating.
I am a little confused because when we order Reliance motors for Class 1 Div. 2 areas we get XT motors with motor winding thermostats. This does not seem to be tha case with other motor vendors.
Can anybody bring some light on this regard? Are the thermostats really required and it is mandatory to connect them?

Wasn't this question asked and answered the other day?
