I'm being partially tasked with moving the control of the exterior lighting of a building over to our building management system. A contractor is providing a HOA device with a relay that will control the 277V lighting. The relay supposedly has a 120V or 24V coil. Is my best option to mount a class 2 transformer in a box with an input for 277v and output of 24V and then bring the 24V into the HOA device to control its relay?
Is it an issue having both the 277v feeding the relay and the 24v output in the same box?
I know they make class 2 transformers with a 1/2" nipple so they can connect to a box for the high voltage side but I don't want to have the 24 side of the transformer exposed and have to run a cable outside of any conduit or box.
What are the proper ways to do this so it is a simple and clean install?
