Any suggestions on mounting a florescent strip light to a W6x9 I beam? Is there a clamp available? Im using a lithonia DM fixture.

Thanks

Beam clamps and/or strut w/spring nuts work nicely.

Available in various sizes on both the bolt and flange size.

Strut and spring nuts available in various sizes, also.

celtic, can you provide a reference for that beam clamp? i cant find it but it looks like what i need.

Thanks

Here is a link to Caddy's beam clamp for industrial application.

Edit added to include - Not quite as nice as the Celtic's, but a good competitive style.

Sure, this link for 3/8" beam clamp($4.29 ea.):

Generally, when buying these things you just tell the counter man you need a x/y" beam clamp...if the flange is deep on the beam, ask for a deep one :D
Very scientific, I know ;)

If you need an actual part number, these are T&B (Steel City) numbers:
[500-SC] Malleable Iron beam clamp, 1/4"-20 threaded openings, fits flanges up to 15/16" thick.

[502] Malleable Iron beam clamp, 3/8" - 16 threaded openings, fits flanges up to 1" thick.

Click the links to get more data on weight loads.

Here's a whole bunch of them from T&B/SC: http://www.tnb.com/ps/endeca/index.cgi?a=nav&N=583

Real electricians don't use those ones Rocky ;)

Honestly, I've only seen plumbers, fitters, and sprinklermen use that style.

Celtic,

I guess I'm too easy...I may suggest the model you had, but will use whatever the offer is, long as it is legal, and can be installed safely. My preferred method if I have a bunch to do, is best done with cowboy clamps and an insta - dark hood - "fire 'em up!"

Too much oil patch time, and "get by", gear bummed off other crafts. Fitters laugh when we show up with a "girly welder", but still "git 'R' done. Must have been spotted on this one somewhere in the past -300.18(B). Said to try and slow down good production, but no weld so bad, and enough cold-gal applied that it can't be pretty from my house (I didn't say that)!

Another way around that is to weld a 1/4" , 3/8", whatever stud ya have and use that to "mount" ;)
