Moutning lights on 4S Blank Cover

I'm wiring a metal barn, and they want a spotlight in each stall. I was planning on using a 4S box with a blank cover and mounting the fixture to the 1/2" KO that is on the cover. Is this legal? I always thought that's what the KO was for, but something seems wrong with doing it like that.

My other option is to mount a round plaster ring and then a WP round cover to that. It wouldn't look as clean, but may be stronger.

Why not just use a 4" octagon box? Better yet a Weatherproof box?

That should work. But what about the Steel City SH ? ? (swivel hanger) cover that has a threaded hub that swivels?

Re: Moutning lights on 4S Blank Cover

I need 2 KO's on the bottom of the box, it's wedged up in a tight spot, I think that takes out the octagon option...and it's wall mounted, so I don't think a swivel hanger would work? I may go with the WP box, but high cost may be an issue.

That works too!

Edit: Added an "S"

OK, so the 4s blank cover IS legal?

I looked in 410-16 and can't find anything that says it can't be done. The fixtures are below 50 lbs. Any sections I'm missing?

This forum is great, thanks for the help!

Mike,
In livestock areas a WP Bell with a dual spot cover may be a good bet depending on relative location near stalls. Sometimes hose downs may be done.
