moving a three wire dryer or range circuit

This comment was posted at the end of a three-week old thread. The topic was 3-wire and 4-wire cords for electric dryers. Rather than open a new subject on an old thread, I moved this to a thread of its own.

I'd say that a junction box, more of the same kind of wire, and the same (or same kind of) receptacle does not constitute a new installation.

A new circuit, on the other hand, is a new installation, and requires the four-conductor cable, receptacle, and dryer cord. Length is not an issue

Are you saying size doesn't matter???
I agree with Larry. About size around here in the mountains our conversion chart is one inch equals six inches. Although Marine scale is like Texas everything is bigger.Semper Fi

Everyone knows thickness is more important than length.

Hey, I'm talking about wire gauge vs circuit length here!
