MSB below grade

What are others experience with installation of Main SwitchBoard installed in room below grade with only an area drain installed outside the door to the room? Any code references regarding this? Note: there is no housekeeping pad under this service. Thanks in advance.

Not really any code articles pertaintaing to the installation of switch boards in dry basements or sub levels. As long as the conduits from the feed end are above any standing water levels, there shouldn't be any problems. Article 300.7 requires sealing the conduits to prevent ambient air differences.

We see these type installations all the time. Some are even in sub-basements. Great for when the floods come - which they do eventually.

Thanks guys. Doesn't make much since to have below grade without provisions for drains, sump pumps or even alarm notifications but I don't see NEC addressing it.
