:?The usage of MTW wire is generally described as "within appliances". Several control panel builders I have worked with have designated MTW wire being used for internal control panel wiring as a normal practice; hence they will use #16 awg in a 15 amp control circuit within the panel rather than #14 which would be the case with THHN/THWN and similar conductors. Althought the NEC lists MTW as a wire type under 310.10 (B) and (C), I cannot fine ampacity and temperature ratings for MTW listed in the code as it was not listed in Table 310.15(B). Please advise where this can be found.

The NEC 2008 Edition, 310.15(A) (1) FPN No.2 references NFPA 79 for allowable ampacities.
