Can you put (3) 2hp/208v/1phase motors, each with individual overload protection, on the same 20A circuit with #12 wire per NEC 430.53?

No. Three 2 HP motors would draw more than 20A.

Table 430.248 lists a 2hp FLA at 13.8 amps. Table 430.251.(A) lists the LRA at 80 amps. I'm not sure you can connect 1 much less 3.

You could probably do this if the motors were interlocked so only one could run at a time. 430.24-Ex.3
