Hello,
I have an enclosure that is deemed a Class 1 Div 1 area and protected through intrinsically safe barriers. I have an RTD inside this enclosure to monitor temperature. I am using the manufacturer RTD cable between this area and the intrinsically safe barrier. I do not know if this cable is listed or not, if it is gas/vaportight, or if it transmits gas or vapors. I am currently waiting to hear back from the manufacturer with this information.
My question is, if the manufacturer tells me this cable is not listed, not gas/vaportight, and transmits gas or vapors, am I able to strip the jacket of the cable back past where the conduit sealing compound is and seal around the individual wires? Does this meet the requirements of 501.15(D)?
Additionally, if this cable is not listed, but I am using it per the manufacturers specifications, can I use it at all?
