Have a project where we're running cables in underground ductbank then cable tray once in the electrical room.

Thinking to do 3/C cable instead of 3-1/C.

Each conductor is 750kcmil in the 3/C cable which results in an overall cable OD of 2.2".

This cable would be larger than a single 2000kcmil conductor. Is it stupid to attempt to put this in conduit.. just go to 3-1/C?

Thanks

I know you are asking about 1 3/c versus 3 1/c..but I would reconsider 750s altogether unless it has been expressly mandated that it is necessary. both options will be a pain.

750's are more expensive, harder to install and you get less amperage per $$ when comparing parallel options.

to answer your question-I think more information is needed

What size conduit? what type?

Distance of tray?

Distance of conduit?

might consider pulling tension calcs or asking someone who has actually installed the stuff. they will tell you don't do it
