We are building a multi-dwelling service and i thought that in the code book i had found once that one dwelling's service could not pass through anothers, only if it is in the slab or undergroud. The only thing that i can find now is 230.3 and having trouble finding this code, or am i mistaken?

Re: multi-dwelling services

It is difficult to comply with the NEC and have service entrance conductors (unfused) pass through adjacent occupancies dwelling or other.

230.70 requires a disconnect readily accessible upon entering the premises kinda sorta.

Conductors can pass through other occupancies if they are considered outside the occupancy see 230.6

There may be other rules that apply

Look at 230.72 and "Service Conductors" in Article 100.

You most likely be running feeders through the building, not service conductors.
